woman thinking

I am very excited to write about this topic which greatly inspires me. Many of us go through our Christian lives without being doers of the word. The bible says in the book of James 1:22 “but be all of you doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving yourselves”. Are you a doer of the word? What does being a doer of the word actually refer to? Many people do not even know what it means to be a doer of the word. You are a doer of the word when you do not worry about circumstances. The bible states in the book of Philippines 4:6 that “we should not worry nor fret but by prayers, thanksgiving and supplication we should make our request known to the Lord.” Being a doer of the word means we do not have to worry about anything because God is taking of our problems for us. Whatever you are looking for whether it is a child, marriage, a job, healing for a sickness, commit it to the Lord and he would provide it for you.

Also the bible states in Mark 16:17-18 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues. They will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

If you are a Christian Brother or sister and these signs are not following you then you are not fully tapping into your potential. I know some persons would tell me but I do not have as much grace as the big men of God, how can I do such things. Friends, everybody who believes can cast out demons. The scripture did not say only the big men of God. I used to think along this line too until I was faced with a situation where a guy was possessed and needed help and there was no man of God around. I was the only one who could do something because all the other guys were afraid to approach this guy because they said they did not know where he has put his hands. Notwithstanding, I approached this guy with all the courage and as soon as I laid my hands on his head, he started manifesting. I then took him into bible studies and prayers and before long he was normal again to the glory of God.

So, friends if you are not casting out demons, speaking in tongues and laying hands on the sick then you are not a doer of the word. In addition, you have to be a walking in love too. Go out and start being a doer of the word. Today is the day to start and you would be amazed just what God can do in peoples’ lives. I wish you all a nice weekend.

critical steps to implement for church growth.

Our streets and towns are littered with churches which all cater for several hundreds of worshipers. These churches are filled with seats which for the most part are almost empty. how do you bring more Christians into churches? follow the following tips:

1) Prayer team

The prayer team in the church is one of the most crucial element for church growth. All manoeuvrings of the devil to arrest church growth can only be overcome with prayers. If you are a pastor desiring to grow your church make sure you have a strong prayer team. Choose a charismatic leader to head the team and make sure you sometimes join them in prayers.

2) Evangelism team

The evangelism team is another important church growth factor. A lot of pastors neglect this group. The team should be organized and strong enough to motivate all other members of the church to do evangelism with them. It sometimes surprises me that most people living at the neighborhood of churches don’t go to church. As the saying goes , “charity begins at home”, evangelism should be started at the vicinity of the church. Each christian should be excited to spread the word of God. Also, new converts should be followed up in order for them not to backslide.

3) Organization.

The church should be organized into departments, with a clear organigram, with each department having specific tasks to carry out. When a church is organized, things are done smoothly and it becomes appealing to new converts. The organigram should be placed on a noticeboard so that all and sundry can know who heads which department and to whom to go to when they have a problem.

4) Solidarity

A solidarity team should be appointed to organize the church participation in funerals, marriages and birthdays. Some church members complain of neglect when they are bereaved . The church should stand behind members having a difficult time.

What other tips do you know about that can encourage church growth? Write in the comments below.

How to fire up your faith.

A lot of people believe that as soon as they give their lives to Christ, then they are born again and everything is finsihed in their christian lives. Giving your life to Christ is the beginning of a long journey that has bumps and potholes on the way. One of the ways to resist the devil and guide against backsliding is through faith. (Ephesians 6:16) . The bible says we all have a measure of faith. However, this faith has to be nurtured for it to grow otherwise it dies down.( mark 9:24) . Here are a few ways you can fire up your faith :

1) By regularly attending church services.
You would only have faith by hearing the word of God.(Romans 10:17). The only place you would never get tired of hearing the word of God is in church. Try to make it a duty to attend all church services. At best, join a service unit like ushers, choir that would compel you to attend church services.

2) By studying the word of God.
So, you are a christian and you do not have a bible. How can this be? Invest in a good bible. Read it daily at least 3 pages for a start. More as you continue your christian walk. The devil is only afraid of Christians who know the word of God. He would not even attempt to stop at their doorstep. You need to renew your mind everyday by reading your bible so as to chase away old thoughts and replace them with the word of God.

3) Prayers.
The first sign that your faith has gone down is when you cannot pray or don’t pray enough. Learn to spend time with God daily by praying to him. Prayers is a means that we communicate with God and we hear from him. Jesus cautioned his disciples to pray lest they fall into temptation. (Mathew 14:38) . Are you praying?

4) By singing praises and worship.
It amazed me how a lot of Christians close their mouths. Open your mouth and declare scripture instead staying quiet. I heard this one from Prophet Kevin Nuduba, a preacher based in kumba, Cameroon. Paul and Silas story is a good illustration of the power of praise and worship.( Acts 16:16). After they were locked up for saving a fortune teller woman, they started off praying but later they switched to praise and worship at midnight and the prison gates crumpled liberating them. Learn to sing praises and worship to the Lord whether in your house, in your car, at work, in your bathroom and kitchen.

5) The fear of the Lord.
You must always have the fear of the Lord with you at all times. As soon as you stop fearing the Lord, sins takes root in your life. Joseph could only avoid the temptation of sleeping with Portiphar’s wife because he feared the Lord. He didn’t want to displace his master. ( Genesis 31:1-3)

These are a few tips of how you can revive your faith. Do you know of any i omitted? Register them in the comments below.

Is speaking in tongues a gift from the holy spirit?

man praying.

Speaking in tongues is one of those things that has seperated the church for years. While some churches condon it, others condemn it. What is it really and how should it be practised?

To better understand what speaking in tongues is, lets go to the book of Acts. In Acts 2:4, the bible says the believers gathered together in one place where filled with the holy spirit and they began to talk in other languages. Again in Acts 10:44, the bible states that the believers, both Jews and Gentiles, listening to Peter speak, all received the holy spirit and started speaking in strange tongues. Also in 1 corinthians 12:10, the bible says the ability to speak in strange tongues is a gift from the holy spirit.

I donot know about you but the above scriptures prove beyond doubt that speaking in tongues was practised by the early christians. It is not only a prove you are filled with the holy spirit but it is a way of speaking directly to God.

Therefore, in order to speak in strange tongues, one must be filled with the holy spirit. And in order to be filled with the holy spirit, you must give your life to Christ. (John 3:6)

Each time that i pray and speak in strange tongues, i realise that it strengthens my spiriit and enables me to talk directly to God. And for those of you who want to know how i received the holy spiritand started speaking in tongues, it just came in church one day while we were praying. Everybody was speaking in tongues during prayer and i found myself speaking too. Just as the apostles in the book of acts, they found themselves speaking in tongues and not understanding what each of them was saying.

The holy spirit can also be given by a man of God, (John 20:21) which can enable you speak in tongues. In John20:21, Jesus appeared amongs his disciples, after his death anf cruxifixion and told them, “receive the holy spirit”. What do you think about this topic? Do you believe in praying in tongues? How to tap into your inner potential.

A lot of you have lots of potentials but you lack the knowledge of how to tap into it and use it to your advantage. I get amazed when i hear people say life is too difficult, there are no jobs , they donot jave what to eat. As soon as you say this, you have defeated yourself. You should instead see yourself as possessing lots of potentials. Even of you donot see them, they are in you.

How then can you tap into your inner potentials? First, what did you learn in school? What are the things you talk about of, that you are passionate of. Which books do you read the most? There lies your potentials. The skills you acquire while doing this add up in what you become. If , for example, you have been a cook, there are many things you can do with this skill. You can start a restaurant, work in a hotel, work in a company canteen. You can even decide to sharpen your skills by going to a cookery school before going out to seek for jobs or start your own business.

We all have something we are good at. Nobody came into this world empty. Find yours and God would bless you through it. There is nobody God did not give abilities. Release the greatness in you today and only the sky would be your limit.

Should a christian be afraid to visit their village?

a village in africa

One thing the christian revival has done is that it has completely weakened the invincibility of witches and wizards. A lot of people were afraid to visit their villages of origin because tjey were afraid of being afflicted or killed by these agents of destruction. However, today, it is no longer so. Children of God are above all demonic and satanic forces and reign absolutely over them. They travel and go anywhere without fear. (Isaiah 41:10)

I have heard of types of stories about some people who visited their villages and what happened to them upon their return. Most often, the misfortune of these people are attributed to witches and wizards whether proven or not. There os this man who told me how he visited his parents in his village somewhere along the border with Nigeria. He was offered a chair to sit on by an old woman he visited and upon his return to Europe he couldnot concentrate on his job. He alnost lost his job and he blamed his misfortune on the old woman who gave him a chair to sit on. Another clear case is a lady who went visiting her village and upon her return to Europe discovered she could no longer see while plainting her friend’s hair. She and her husband went to several hospitals but all the test she made came out negative. The pastor then decided to assign some prayer warriors to pray for her and after a week, her eyesight wad restored. She woke up at 2 am in the morning on a sunday and she found out she could see. Sbe danced joyiously in church, and all the congregation rejoiced with her.

Despite these abnormal cases which may seem paranormal, a lot of people visit their villages every year and nothing happens to them. The bible says in Psalms 91:3, that God would keep you safe from all hidden dangers and deadly diseases. It also says in Psalms 91:5; that you need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day. I hope you stop being afraid of visiting your village because in so far as you are in Christ, nothing would happen to you. Not a single strand of your hair would be touched by whatsoever witch or wizard.

The capable wife.

I was touched recently when i read the book of proverbs and i read about the capable wife.(Proverbs 31:10) . This description embodies every single quality a good wife must have and how she should carry herself. Here, therefore, are the qualities of a capable or good wife.

1) She is hardworking.
A good wife is a hard working and industrious woman.(Proverbs 31:17). A good wife should be active and busy and not sit around idling all day long.

2) She is caring.
She takes care of her husband, the kids and the house. Not only does she prepares food for the family, but she takes care of othe needs of the family as well. She makes sure the family has warm clothing. (Proverbs 31:21)

3) She gives.
A generous wife is generous to the poor and the needy.(Proverbs 31:10). She gives to the community, to the church and to her relatives.

4) She loves God.
A capable wife understands that she would not be young and beautiful forever. She honours God because she knows God does not look at the outward appearance but at the heart. (Proverbs 31:30).

5) She is respected and praised by all.
A capable wife is respected in the community, at church and at home by her husband and relatives.(Proverbs 31:28). Her character towards everyone makes people to respect and praise her.
