I was prompted to write this post because of a comment I heard a friend make recently. He said, “Pastors dem di ask money too much for church”. It literarily means pastors ask for too much money in church. I do not know under what circumstances this guy was saying this but is certain is that a church is a nonprofit organization and so it needs money from its fellow members to survive. Some people complain that every time they go to church they give offerings and yet they still ask them for many other contributions.
Now where does the money you give to church each Sunday go to? Well this is a good question that is worth asking. This money is used to pay some church ministers, develop the church and buy sundry items in the church. You may think that it is too much money but when you consider all that is required from paying the rents to buying communion and paying for some development projects in the church, it is not that too much. Depending on where the church is, if the church is doing construction or opening more branches then it would need more money to expand. For once, you may complain about it but nobody forces you to remove money from your pockets, you do it out of your own free will.
I was listening to one man of God recently and he was asking how you expect him to pray for you when his stomach is empty. You may ask yourself why can he not use the offering and tithes that members give in church to feed himself? Well, that is nothing compared to his needs and the needs of the church. What is certain is that if you do not bless the church or the man of God with your needs, you would end up worshiping those means. Which is better? Give or keep all your money to yourself?
The bible says in Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat
in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
You are only going to receive if you give and you give cheerfully. I hope you would start giving and not continue complaining about pastors asking a lot of money. Your money does not go into their private pockets but into the church’s coffers.
