I woke up this morning with this topic in my mind. Most of us go through life contented with the position where we are. We never think that we can rise above where we currently stand. Adding value to our lives simply means doing something new that is an addition to what we have already achieved. Whether it is a new language we want to learn, a new skill we want to acquire, a new course we want to take, a new sport we want to start doing or a new project we want to engage in; we should be doing something that adds to the body of knowledge we already have.
There should be no excuse to postpone doing this. Start today and you would thank me for giving you this piece of advice. Time flies and waits for nobody. There are endless things we can do to add value to our lives. I recently I decided to improve on my typing skills and I downloaded the necessary software and started practising. Before long, I realised my typing speed has moved from 10 words per minute to 20 words per minute. It happened by believing God and through constant practise. In addition to determination, my sheer persistence carried me along despite the difficulties I experienced in the beginning. Also, I just registered for a long distance course on climate change through the website www.coursera.org which has a lot of educational courses on various topics.
We should strive to keep up learning because as soon as we stop learning, we stop growing intellectually and we are not prepared to take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves in our lives. Improving and building up ourselves should be a constant process.
I have been asked this question several times by individuals who smoke and drink if they too can be saved by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal saviour. Some persons even say that since they are smoking and drinking, there is no need to go to church because they are already sinners and they are already condemned. Nobody is condemned because they smoke and drink. What is important is for you to be willing to go to church and fellowship with other Christians and hear the word of God. Nowhere is it mentioned in the bible that smoking or drinking is against the word of God. Nevertheless, for our health and in other to be in good health and physical fitness, we have to present our bodies as a living sacrifice to God. We therefore have to consume alcohol substances in moderation and even better abstain totally from them.
I often hear about the occasion Jesus converted water to wine to convince people that since Jesus could convert water to wine then he was not against people drinking beer. I however find this gross because by giving in to the temptation to drink, we can engage in revelling and other forms of rejoicing that are not appropriate for a Christian. The bible warns in the book of 1 Peter 5:8 that “we should be sober, be vigilant because the devil, like a roaring, roams about, looking for whom to devour.” We should therefore be careful in order not to fall into excesses and thus not be able to pray effectively. Drinking in moderation may work for a while however the temptation of taking a few more bottles in excess is very easy. It is therefore better to abstain from drinking and smoking. Maybe, some people would not agree with me but this is what I think on this matter. Write your comments below.
I use to be afraid to give testimony in church and I know many people still have this fear living in them. The thought of standing in front of a crowd sends shivers in the spines of many Christians. The fear of making a mistake and people laughing at you, the fear of many eyes looking at you , the fear of you standing in front of people and forgetting what to say, the fear of being in the spotlight…etc. There are many fears that we experience. Friends, there is a way to conquer this fear – just do it. Yes, just do it. Just take that microphone, go in front of the church and start talking and you would find that you are flowing. At the end of it all, you would not believe you are the one who just spoke. Every new thing you do in life is difficult at first before being easy.
The only way to conquer a fear is to actually do it. There is no other way. You may ask yourself how other people find the courage to stand in front of a congregation and give a testimony. They are not super human beings. They are ordinary people like you who have learn to conquer their fear. So, just do it and you would be surprised how easy it is. The bible says in psalms 34:3 “Oh magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together”. By testifying of what the Lord has done in our lives, we magnify his name, and make the gentiles believe in his goodness. If you have never given testimony in church now is the time to do it. I wish you all a nice day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you mean African time? I was surprised on my return to Cameroon that there is one place where time is respected just like in Europe. That is in Witness Chapel. I have been worshiping in Witness Chapel and I have been particularly impressed by the respect of time. Every event start at the exact time it is supposed to start whether people come or not and last the amount of time it is supposed to last.
When you understand that time is money, you can better understand the importance of keeping to time. We should remove that African thing from our vocabulary because the things are done on time the more they are done well and in an orderly manner and we are better satisfied with the results.

Positive confessions are words we talk to ourselves that are intended to motivate us to greater achievements. It is important to speak positive confessions all the time because our thoughts talk to us. The words we speak have a direct impact on our emotions and our lives. When we speak words like “I am a winner, I am more than a conqueror, I am born of God” we invite success and prosperity into our lives. However, when we speak words “like I am a failure” ,” I am nothing”; failure comes looking for us in our lives.
It is therefore important to speak the things we want to see in our lives. We should speak words of encouragement to ourselves in order to call those things that are not into existence in our lives. Positive confessions spoken into our lives are very important as by this we can create the world we want to see.
The bible says in the book of romans 10:10, “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation”. We have to confess regularly the things we want to see in our lives. Our regular confessions are like little motivations we give our self in other to achieve greater things in life.
Are you speaking positive confessions in your life. If you are not doing that, you should start today and you would see the changes it would bring into your life.
Walking in love is something I always strive to do and I am perfecting in it every day. We are not supposed to love only our love ones but every single person we meet on a daily basis. In the book of Mathew 22:37, the Pharisees asked Jesus which is the greatest commandment, and Jesus told them, “love the Lord God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind” and “love your neighbour like yourself”. Jesus Christ told the Pharisees that this was the greatest and most important commandment. In this verse of scripture Jesus meant by neighbour every single person you meet in the street. This is not limited only to your loved ones. In fact, this commandment replaces the Ten Commandments given to Moses in the Old Testament. This scripture of love sums up all the other commandments because when you truly love someone, you would not steal nor abuse them.
Knowing God loves you is also a good weapon against fear. If you truly know God loves you, you would have no fear because you know he would defend and protect you wherever you go. There is torment in fear and so knowing that God loves you and would allow nothing bad to happen to you would give you confidence and assurance. Just as we are more than ready to defend and protect our children that is how God is more than ready to defend and protects us. So, my brothers and sisters there is much joy in walking in love.

There is a phenomenon I found on my return to Cameroon which is the constant use of the word “SIR”. I realized on several occasions that people would address me as “SIR” when greeting me or talking to me. I was very surprised of this constant use of “SIR” giving that I came from a culture where people are not too comfortable with big titles. After some research, I found out that this use of the word “SIR” was mostly among Christian circles and it was a way of portraying humbleness and humility.
I have started using “SIR” myself to address people without even realizing it and I noticed that it helps to humble myself. I have been combing the bible and I found out that most people addressed Jesus as “SIR” during his ministry. The bible says in the book of Mathew 23:12 that “And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.”(King James Version.) If using the word SIR helps to humble us then there is no reason we should not use it.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
