How to overcome your fears.

The recent outbreak of the Ebola virus has brought fear among a lot of people. Not even governments have been left indifferent. I heard of the story of a lady in Nigeria who gave testimony in church how God healed her from the Ebola virus. As soon as she said that, everybody near her fled her, and even the pastor was afraid to approach her.

Fear is an emotion and we should not let emotions rule our life as Christians. Emotions come and go but only the word of God last forever. Apart from the fear of sickness, there are all other types of fear out there. There is ,for instance, fear of failure, fear of death and fear of disgrace.

How can you overcome your fears? You can do that by looking into scriptures. There are a lot of scriptures in the bible where God tells you not to fear because he is there to defend and protect you. In psalms 91:3, it says the Lord would keep you safe from hidden dangers and from deadly diseases. Proverbs 3:25, states that you should not be afraid of sudden death, and Isaiah 41:10 says you should not fear nor be dismayed for God is there to help you. Infact, you only have to fear God himself (Psalms 111:10)

The bible is clear that God did not give you a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7). Romans 8:15 states that you did not receive a spirit of fear, but a spirit whereby you cry Abba, Father.

Remove, then all fears from your life and walk in boldness. The bible says the righteous are as bold as as a lion (Proverbs 28:1) In addition, strive strive to walk in love , for perfect love drives out all fears. (1 John 4:18).
